Nothing New

It seems that the notion of home education is perceived as a new concept. On the contrary, school for the masses is the new concept. It was never intended as an enlightening but as a tool of control and given a foot hold by weary mothers as a break . Had they known it would be the demise of the family I doubt the break would have been worth it.

We all educate our children. If you tell a toddler their colors , you have become their teacher. So why stop there? If you are a capable person and parent then your duty is to your child. I believe that the most important thing you can give your child is love and security. The security , even if you are homeless, is that you will be with them always. The intellectual learning can only be built upon that.  There are too many examples through history of  people who learned outside an institutional setting. I want my kids to love learning not be afraid that they are not wearing the latest fashion.

We  began by home birth and breastfeeding. We never carried our children in car seats or carriers. The warmth of your heart beat, the feel of your hand is too important to a baby. They slept in our bed and ate real food, not canned. From there we continued on by including them in our conversations and lives no matter what we did and do.
